The Bournville Village Trust was refurbishing the group of original houses built in 1898 at the inception of the Trust as a Housing Association. This heritage corner site in the centre of the village required a delicate balance between retaining period features and meeting the Trust’s stringent modern energy-saving standards. To reduce running costs for tenants, the Trust wanted to incorporate energy-efficient lighting throughout.
Lampholder drew up internal lighting specifications for the various houses, flats and one retail unit, and sourced a variety of light fittings which complemented the Victorian buildings. We also designed an energy-efficient lighting scheme to highlight the façade and newly-planted trees around this corner group of buildings.
