A large new Eco-home is being built in a remote area in rural Wales. The house will be generating its own power, so our lighting scheme had to minimise the power the owners would use for lighting.
Special conditions for Eco-homes mean that all lighting has to be energy-efficient, so no tungsten or halogen lights are permissible. The owners both work at home, so lighting needed to be flexible to suit the demands of work and leisure in the same areas. Working from architect’s drawings, our designs included estimates of daytime and evening lighting power loads to help with energy planning and to demonstrate conformity with Eco-home conditions.
